Transform complex data into actionable intelligence that drives mission success. NS2 Mission is seeking an experienced Data Scientist to support a proposed government program in the Northern VA area. In this role, you'll apply advanced analytics, data science methodologies, and emerging technologies to solve complex national security challenges. Working alongside analysts, engineers, and mission partners, you'll develop innovative data-driven solutions that enhance situational awareness, uncover hidden relationships, and support informed decision-making across the Intelligence Community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and apply advanced analytical methodologies to solve complex national security and intelligence challenges.
  • Analyze large, diverse datasets to identify trends, relationships, and actionable insights that support mission objectives.
  • Design and develop data science solutions utilizing statistical analysis, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and predictive analytics techniques.
  • Build computational models that improve situational awareness, relationship discovery, systems modeling, and business analytics.
  • Develop data visualizations, dashboards, and graphical products that effectively communicate analytical findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborate with intelligence analysts, engineers, and mission stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver innovative analytical solutions.
  • Develop and maintain Python-based analytical tools and software applications supporting enterprise mission needs.
  • Contribute to research efforts, technical documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives while supporting evolving mission priorities.

Required Qualifications

  • Senior or Expert-level experience in Data Science, Analytics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years (Senior) or 10+ years (Expert) of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience supporting Intelligence Community missions and applying analytical methodologies to national security challenges.
  • Strong understanding of one or more of the following analytical domains:
    • Relationship discovery and link analysis
    • Situational awareness and intelligence fusion
    • Systems modeling and simulation
    • Business intelligence and analytics
  • Experience applying advanced mathematical, statistical, and computational techniques to solve complex problems.
  • Strong programming experience with Python and familiarity with tools and technologies such as SQL, R, Hadoop, Spark, Java, C/C++, Git, Bash, Tableau, ArcGIS, and Unix/Linux.
  • Experience with data visualization, machine learning, artificial intelligence, ETL processes, or distributed computing.
  • Understanding of research design principles and intelligence collection methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing innovative data science and analytics solutions that support complex intelligence and mission-focused challenges.
  • Experience building enterprise software applications and leveraging modern data management and analytics platforms.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical findings through clear visualizations, presentations, and written documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.
