To thrive as an Exotic Animal Veterinarian, you need in-depth knowledge of exotic species medicine, a veterinary degree (DVM or equivalent), and state licensure. Familiarity with diagnostic imaging, laboratory analysis, anesthesia equipment, and specialized exotic animal care protocols is essential. Strong problem-solving, communication, and attention to detail are crucial soft skills for building trust with clients and managing unique animal cases.
