Responsibilities:
JOB SUMMARY
The Health & Fitness Supervisor provides day-to-day leadership and operational oversight for the facility's fitness, wellness, personal training, fitness assessment, and group exercise functions. This role is responsible for ensuring programs are safe, effective, evidence-based, and aligned with medically integrated fitness standards. The Supervisor supports team member onboarding, scheduling, coaching, development, and performance accountability while promoting a high-quality member and patient experience. This position also monitors program quality, member engagement, equipment readiness, safety practices, and department performance to support strong outcomes, service excellence, and continuous improvement across the fitness operation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Operations & Program Oversight:
    Oversee the daily operations of the fitness floor, personal training, group exercise, and fitness assessments.
    Oversee new member orientations, fitness assessments, and exercise prescription processes.
    Ensure delivery of high-quality fitness experiences and strong member engagement.
    Support cross-departmental initiatives and medically integrated programming.
  • Staff Leadership & Development:
    Recruit, train, schedule, and develop fitness staff and group exercise team members.
    Conduct performance evaluations and deliver ongoing staff education.
    Fill in for staff as needed, including occasional instruction or training.
  • Financial & Performance Management:
    Monitor personal training and programmatic revenue targets.
  • Program Development & Wellness Strategy:
    Create, design, organize, promote, monitor, and participate in employee wellness initiatives and incentive programs.
    Create marketable programs serving diverse patient/customer populations (health maintenance, chronic conditions, sports, rehab, performance).
  • Clinical Quality & Compliance:
    Ensure scientifically sound and medically appropriate programming aligned with MFA standards.
    Maintain continuing education in current research, methods, and protocols; contribute to newsletters and communications.
  • Safety, Facilities & Equipment:
    Support and assist in emergency response procedures per facility policy.
    Maintain safe, clean, and well-functioning exercise environments and equipment.
    Ensure ongoing equipment inspection, preventive maintenance, and repair reporting.

EDUCATION
  • Bachelors Exercise physiology, exercise science, kinesiology, sports management, business administration and/or another related field mandatory.
    Required
  • Masters Exercise physiology, exercise science, kinesiology, sports management, business administration and/or another related field mandatory.
    Preferred

EXPERIENCE
  • 3 years, Fitness or medical fitness environment. Required

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification, Required
