Job description

Physical Therapist - Outpatient - This is a PRN position - Dothan, AL.

Position Goal:

To provide the highest level of patient care while accessing, interpreting, planning and implementing prescribed physical therapy treatment plans.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Plans and administers medically prescribed physical therapy (PT) treatments for patients suffering from injuries or disease and to restore function, prevent disability and relieve pain.
  • Consults with physicians and/or other departments about the impact of PT factors on patient health status.
  • Document findings, treatments and other patient information for medical record as necessary. Bills patients according to proper procedures.
  • Educates patients/family on appropriate care and use of various therapies and/or exercise..
  • Serves as an information and education resource for patients, families, and other members of the therapy staff.
  • Participates in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.
  • Performs related work as required.
  • Recommends solutions to patient care problems.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality. .
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Hughston Responsibilities:

  • Utilize effective communication skills (written and verbal) interacting with co-workers, other clinic employees, supervisors, and outside vendors.
  • Promote The Hughston Clinic's role in the community by greeting and interacting with all patients, families, visitors, vendors, and guests in a courteous and respectful manner.
  • Provides support or relief for other staff as needed.
  • Demonstrates confidentiality in all aspects to include both patient and non-patient issues.
  • Reflect THC values and is sensitive to TH.C's ethical and compliance principals in his/her daily activities.
  • Promote resolution of concerns and conflict by routing through correct mechanism or resolving the situation
  • Able to prioritize daily functions/tasks
  • Display a willingness to put forth effort in problem solving
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Demand and Working Conditions:

  • Essential Functions: Lift and carry 50 pounds, move patients and equipment.
  • Marginal Functions: Reach for and manipulate equipment and patient, visual acuity, hearing and speaking.
  • Accommodations: General PT equipment provided.
  • Environmental Factors: General medical clinic environment.

Position Requirements.

Experience: 2 years experience preferred.

Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of physical therapy..

Special Qualifications: Must have current state license in PT. Must maintain BLS certification.

Outside Relationship: Must be able to relate professionally with patients, family members, facility staff and physicians.

Interaction With Other Departments: All hospital and clinic Departments

Budget: Assist the director in working within the current budget.

Assets Controlled: Supplies and equipment used in treating patients

Employees Supervised: COTA, PTA, PT Aides
