St. Edward's University, a nationally ranked, independent Catholic university and Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position as an assistant professor in the Department of Kinesiology, beginning August 2026.
St. Edward's is characterized by its commitment to the Holy Cross educational mission of educating the hearts and minds of a diverse student body deeply committed to social justice.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach Exercise Physiology, Strength Training and Conditioning, Musculoskeletal Anatomy and Biomechanics, and Exercise Testing and Prescription. Candidates may also be expected to teach Anatomy and Physiology I as well as Anatomy and Physiology II.
For consideration, candidates must possess an earned doctorate in exercise physiology, exercise science, kinesiology or related area.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- demonstrated experience in college-level teaching and scholarship required;
- excellent written and spoken English communication skills;
- a strong commitment to and demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and training undergraduates from diverse backgrounds;
- excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively;
- successful completion of an employment and/or criminal history background check is required.
Essential Responsibilities Include: Candidates should have an interest in and the ability or potential to teach undergraduate courses, as well as support a diverse student body.
- Teaching is central to the mission of St. Edward's University, and the teaching load for this position is 12 credits per semester. Courses are delivered face-to-face.
- Advise undergraduate students
- Meet School and University service requirements.
- Enthusiastically participate in promoting the kinesiology major
- Maintain an active program of quality research
- Develop new courses and curriculum as requested
- Maintain commitment to social responsibility in the classroom setting in line with the University's mission
- Other duties as assigned, trained for and qualified to do.
