Job description
Make a Difference at Grand Canyon University.
Shape the bright futures of Grand Canyon University students as an Instructional Assistant for the traditional ground campus in the College of Natural Sciences. Through hands-on, inquiry-based learning, the college provides an outlet for innovation and cross-disciplinary exposure. It also features pre-professional degrees in biology, microbiology alongside our degrees in chemistry, physics, environmental science, forensic science, and exercise science program and etc.
Responsibilities as Undergraduate Teaching Assistant:
- Keep in communication with your assigned instructor on a regular basis.
- Stay updated and prepared for the classroom agenda and material.
- Attend and be ready to assist your instructor in every class.
- May help with course material prep, grading and lecturing.
- Hold office hours (minimum 3-4 hours; this counts toward the max of 10 hrs/week) to answer student questions and tutor them
- Responsibilities include equipping students with the required skill set, facilitating classroom discussions, assessing student performance and preparing students to be successful leaders in their chosen profession.
- Assists instruction with in-class activities, including proctoring examinations.
- Observes students' performance, and records relevant data to aid instructor in assessing progress
- Coordinates study groups outside of class to tutor students on class material
- May facilitate additional ad hoc lectures as a refresher to classroom formal lecture
- Assists with grading assignments
- Proctors occasional make upexaminations/assignments
- Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University's Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
This is a face-to-face part time opportunity.MUSTbe available to come to the main campus.
This position is a part-time Teaching Assistant position.
Qualifications for the Undergraduate Teaching Assistant:
You are required to be a current GCU student. No completed degree is required.
- You cannot be a current GCU or GCE employee/student worker or hired for other hourly GCU positions.
- You are required to assist on Main Campus (in-person). Must be in Arizona.
- Must have completed sufficient courseworkas well as having received a grade of B or higher in these courses.
Experience/Education:
Grand Canyon University is committed to a student first policy. Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment:
- You are required to be a current GCU student and enrolled in a Bachelor's program. No completed degree is required.
- Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
- Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.
Pay Rate: Minimum Wage
