Postdoctoral Researcher-Fellowship Position
The School of Kinesiology announces the availability of a full-time (3 years) Postdoctoral fellowship in the area of Exercise Immunology. We are looking for a candidate with extensive and documented experience in characterizing the impact of exercise and/or stress on human immunity. Experience working with populations across the healthspan and in the characterization of immune biomarkers in response to various physiological and pathological conditions is required. Previous experience of in vivoandin vitroimaging techniques, metabolic profiling, and biobank management is considered a merit. A keen interest in science and the ability to interact effectively and work productively in a team, as well as a good ability to communicate in English, is required. Emphasis will be placed on personal skills, knowledge, and abilities, as well as on documented previous work.
Job Responsibilities
40%--Conduct research on the effects of physical and psychological stressors on human immunity. Investigate the mechanistic basis of immune responses in clinical populations, competitive athletes, and tactical athletes. Study factors contributing to early morbidity and mortality among military personnel, first responders, and competitive athletes. Analyze and interpret research data using rigorous statistical methods.
25%- Contribute to the development of lifestyle interventions/programs designed to improve health outcomes in these populations. Characterize immune responses and immune biomarkers under various physiological and pathological conditions. Prepare English-language academic papers and research reports. Participate in scientific conferences, meetings, and professional presentations.
20%- Collaborate closely with faculty supervisors and other researchers. Communicate scientific findings, both verbally and in writing. Interact professionally with research participants, collaborators, and stakeholders.
10%- Engage in professional development activities, including training in new methodologies, grant writing, or emerging research technologies.
5%- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in Biology, Kinesiology, or a related field (A.B.D. candidates will be considered).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with exercise testing, human and cellular phenotyping, multi-color flow cytometry, cell culture, and immunoassays techniques etc. Experience in statistics, data analysis, and human experimental research methods, along with prior experience writing and submitting English-language academic papers and research grants.
