Job description

Exercise Physiologist - Cardiac Rehab

Description:

Advanced EKG arrhythmia recognition skills

Accuracy, precision, and attention to detail is essential

Clerical skills such as filing, calculations, basic computer skills, and proper operation of communication equipment

Other traits necessary to job performance include good judgment, good communication skills, both oral and written, and pleasant personality with good interpersonal relationship skills in order to provide quality patient care services in the rehab setting

Good physical and mental health

Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods, some walking, stooping, and lifting. Must be able to use good body mechanics without limitations
Must possess visual acuity, with corrective lenses if necessary, to read printed materials and visualize patients to the degree that changes in color and/or respirations can be detected
Must possess good hearing ability, with auditory aids if necessary, to understand the normal speaking voice without viewing the speaker and auscultate the patients chest using a stethoscope

Must be able to work under supervision or independently as directed by the situation

Must be able to work calmly and efficiently in stressful situations, and handle medical emergencies with skill, good judgment and professionalism

Assumes responsibility for all aspects of ancillary duties of Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehab

Experience/Education:

B. S. degree in Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or related field

ACLS course completion

ACSM Certified Exercise Specialist preferred

Master's Degree preferred but not required

Previous experience and/or academic background in dysrhythmia detection and identification

Previous experience in Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation/Adult Fitness program
