Job Location: Torrance, CA

Salary: $110,000-$175,000/yr DOE

Stellant Systems Inc. (Stellant) is seeking the best and brightest talent to help us bring cutting edge technology to mission critical aerospace and defense applications, supporting critical commercial and government programs for orbital or terrestrial systems. Stellant supports a variety of active RF microelectronics products, including Linearizers, Solid State Power Amplifiers (SSPAs), Channel Amplifiers, Up/Down Converters, Low Noise Amplifiers (LNAs), and similar.  Stellant has delivered well over 7000 active RF units since 1996, supporting a large number of spacecraft from UHF to Q-band.  In support of this work, Stellant's engineering team is seeking an experienced RF Engineer to develop and maintain high-performance RF integrated microwave assembly and power amplifier products, using both SMT and chip-and-wire construction, for space applications.  The primary role for this position is technical ownership of design, development, and production troubleshooting.  As a senior engineer, you will also have responsibility to guide a multi-disciplinary team to support proposals, development and production efforts in various phases to assure commitments are met.

Responsibilities
  • Detailed design and schematic capture of the RF / electronic circuits and overall product.
  • Develop the functional specifications for RF power amplifiers and integrated microwave assemblies.
  • Proposal support for existing and future products.
  • Design tweaks to full new design for active RF products.
  • Ensure that bare die and bond wire layout designs meet design requirements.
  • Qualification execution on new development.
  • Responsible for the release of the engineering design package to the production configuration management system.
  • Set up and calibrate an RF Test bench to perform RF testing including Gain, Power, NF, and VSWR.
  • Provide support and guidance for the development of automated methods for sub-system testing.
  • Design power amplifier matching networks using non-linear models.
  • Support production builds on development and flight hardware.
  • Run root cause investigations for built hardware.
Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in physics or an engineering discipline is required. A master's degree in one of these disciplines a plus
  • III: Minimum of 4 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • VI: Minimum of 6 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • V: Minimum of 9 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • An advanced degree in a relevant field can be considered sufficient experience in lieu of professional experience.
  • Typically requires 6+ years of direct RF and microwave assemblies experience
  • Experience using RF Test Equipment such as Network Analyzers, Power Meters, Bench power supplies, signal/waveform generators, high-speed oscilloscopes, Noise Figure analyzers, and spectrum analyzers
  • Experience using Microwave Studios CST, Ansys HFSS, Microwave Office, ADS, or equivalent
  • Experience with development or programmatic milestones such as PDR, CDR, MRR, TRR as well as qualification of RF devices.
  • Support of space hardware strongly preferred.
  • Experience with proposals.
  • Hands on manufacturing engineer experience a plus
  • Experience working with engineering drawings.
  • Experience writing technical instructions or equivalent a plus.
  • Computer programming skills a nice to have.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are needed, with experience presenting to internal and/or external customers a plus
  • Must be able to work well in a team environment and with individuals from a variety of areas within the company (such as program managers, engineers from multiple disciplines, and operations staff)
  • A bachelor's degree in physics or an engineering discipline is required. A master's degree in one of these disciplines a plus
  • Previous experience in root cause analysis efforts a bonus
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications is necessary
