Java Software Engineer
Location: Cleveland, Ohio (Onsite)
Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Java Developer to support a mission-critical program for a government customer. The ideal candidate has a strong background in Java development, front-end web technologies, and experience working within secure, enterprise environments. This role will collaborate closely with technical leads, system engineers, and other developers to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable software solutions. This role requires that all candidates are eligible to obtain & maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain Java-based applications supporting government systems.
  • Implement front-end features using JavaScript and CSS.
  • Work with Apache Struts frameworks to enhance and maintain existing applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software defects in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams to meet project milestones and ensure quality.
  • Follow government security and development standards, documentation requirements, and best practices.
  • Work with users to define existing or new system scope and objectives.
  • Provide analytical support and technical advice during the conceptualization, development, and implementation phases.
  • Identify problems uncovered by testing or customer feedback and correct problems.
  • Evaluate code to ensure it is valid, meets industry standards and is compatible with devices or operation systems.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent training required.
Experience: 5-7 years experience required. Ability to obtain & maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Technical Skills:
  • Strong hands-on experience with Java, JavaScript, and CSS.
  • Experience with Apache Struts.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming and enterprise application development.
  • Experience with version control tools (e.g., Git).
  • Solid understanding of secure coding practices and application hardening.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting federal programs.
  • Familiarity with JSP, Tomcat, or related Java web technologies.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
