Hennessey Performance, based in Sealy, Texas, is a world-renowned specialist in high-performance vehicle engineering. Since 1991, the company has re-engineered and built over 20,000 sports cars, muscle cars, trucks, and SUVs, including its proprietary hypercars—the Venom GT and Venom F5, which boasts speeds exceeding 300 mph. In 2026 we will produce over 1500 vehicles including the Venom 800 F150 truck, VelociRaptor 1000 Raptor R truck and more.


Job Summary

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for leading strategic procurement activities across Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE). This role oversees supplier management, procurement operations, inventory strategy, and cross-functional coordination with Engineering, Production, Accounting, and Executive Leadership. This position plays a critical role in supporting vehicle production, supplier partnerships, and operational scalability while ensuring quality, cost, and delivery targets are achieved.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with production and business objectives
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, payment terms, tooling agreements, and supply contracts
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while driving accountability for quality and delivery performance
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, shortages, and capacity constraints
  • Support vehicle production schedules by ensuring timely procurement and delivery of materials
  • Work closely with Production and Inventory teams to manage inventory levels, shortages, and build constraints
  • Monitor open purchase orders, supplier delivery schedules, and incoming material status
  • Assist in developing forecasting and material planning processes
  • Help develop and improve procurement systems, ERP processes, SOPs, and operational workflows
  • Drive process improvements focused on efficiency, scalability, and data accuracy
  • Support implementation of purchasing metrics, supplier scorecards, and reporting dashboards
  • Maintain accurate purchasing and vendor records across company systems
  • Monitor spending and support cost reduction initiatives without sacrificing quality
  • Assist Accounting and Receiving teams with PO reconciliation, invoice resolution, and vendor communication
  • Track procurement-related KPIs and provide reporting to leadership
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities related to procurement and supplier programs
  • Travel to vendor locations
  • Managing team members


Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of procurement, sourcing, supplier management, and inventory planning
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • High attention to detail and organizational ability
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Engineering, Production, Accounting, and Executive teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/MRP systems
  • Experience managing suppliers, lead times, and production schedules
  • Ability to identify problems proactively and drive solutions independently


Education and Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain, or manufacturing operations
  • Automotive, manufacturing, aftermarket, or performance industry experience strongly preferred
  • Experience sourcing fabricated, molded, machined, composite, or automotive components preferred
  • Experience supporting production launches or new product development programs preferred
  • ERP/MRP system experience preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics or business administration preferred
  • High school degree or equivalent required

  • Limited travel may be required for supplier visits, trade shows, and manufacturing reviews
