Job description

Responsibilities
  • Perform technical responsibilities required of a Structural Engineer II/III
  • Mentor less experienced engineers
  • Contribute to client meetings as department representative
  • Demonstrate familiarity with Valdes A&E structural engineering work practices
  • Prepare AutoCAD and Revit drawings
  • Demonstrate familiarity and expertise in using Revit and Navisworks in 3D modeling
  • Prepare structural scopes of work and material take-offs
  • Develop a refined understanding of construction drawings such as Plans, Sections, Details, and Piping Isometrics
  • Develop familiarity and expertise with prevalent structural industry codes, standards, and practices (i.e. AISC, ACI, ASCE 7, IBC, etc.)
  • Demonstrate understanding of client standards and specifications
  • Review steel fabricator, concrete rebar, and other vendor shop drawings and submittals
  • Perform and document simple structural calculations under the guidance of a more senior colleague
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using Risa 3D, PROFIS, MathCAD, and other software commonly used in the department
  • Demonstrate continuous technical improvement and desire to sit for the structural engineer (SE) exam
  • Verify field conditions, constructability of designs, and assist in resolving problems during field construction

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • 3-5 years of experience working as a Structural Engineer
  • Refined understanding of statics, dynamics, steel design, and concrete design
  • Basic technical report writing skills
  • Basic 2D and/or 3D CAD expertise
  • Basic Microsoft Office expertise
  • Must possess exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Must be able to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future

$90,000 - $120,000 a year
