The Phantom Fall Fest Makeup Artist is mainly responsible for transforming our Team into chilling and/or realistic characters. This position is responsible for expertly putting on Team Member make-up and prosthetics within the design for the attraction. This position works closely with our Costume Specialists to create cohesive looks for all Halloween characters. Job Duties & Responsibilities Engage with guests and other team members in a fun and welcoming manner Add make-up and'or prosthetics to character performers to fit the design and theming of specific attractions and events Apply makeup efficiently and hygienically, ensuring comfort for the wearer Create attention-grabbing make-up designs to enhance the realism of the character Create stunning visuals and special effects that add realism and/or shock factor to character appearances Work closely with the Costume Specialist, Wardrobe Assistants, performers, and event leadership to ensure makeup complements costumes and overall character portrayal Be prepared to troubleshoot and touch up makeup throughout the event as needed, adapting to various conditions and unforeseen circumstances Manage your time effectively to ensure all performers are ready on schedule Proactively monitor assigned areas and quickly identify and elevate any safety hazards or other risks to the proper authorities Ensure compliance with and enforce all park policies, procedures, and labor laws All other duties assigned by leadership Language: Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus. Education and Experience No education requirements for this position Previous acting or costume character experience is desired but not required. Requirements Must be at least 16 years of age to comply with Connecticut Child Labor Laws Must be able to obtain Working Papers if under the age of 18 Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays Must have reliable transportation to and from work for your scheduled shift Must possess exceptional customer service skills, with an ability to resolve questions, problems, issues, and concerns in a positive and professional manner Previous special effects make up experience and portfolio is preferred but not required Ability to follow direction, multi-task, and work as part of a fast-paced team Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for majority of the workday Ability to remain sedentary for extended periods of time while applying makeup Ability to frequently stoop, twist, kneel, bend, squat, or reach above shoulders Ability to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 50 pounds or more Ability to consistently use hands to grasp, control, move objects/tools Ability to see details of objects that are more than a few feet away Working Conditions Frequent exposure to outdoor and indoor areas of the park Frequent exposure to the variable outside temperatures (both in and out of costume), including high heat, cold, direct sun, humidity, dust, rain, snow, ice, and other weather conditions Subject to frequent interruptions, constant repetitive motion, high noise levels, flashing lights, and heavily populated environments Team member benefits Working at Lake Compounce is about making people happy!
