Job description

Role Overview

The 24/7 Cancer Care Clinic provides an outpatient treatment environment where patients can attend scheduled appointments for various services, including chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV hydration, central line and port care, and phlebotomy. This infusion area is supported by a dedicated team of staff nurses and patient care technicians. Additionally, Nurse Practitioners are available within the clinic to address symptom management for oncology patients, allowing for timely care for urgent needs. These patients receive support from both Nurse Practitioners and the nursing staff. Furthermore, the clinic initiates care for patients who require hospital admission, provided they meet specific criteria.

Work Schedule
  • Rotating schedule with three 12-hour shifts
  • One week of night shifts every six weeks
Qualifications
  • Acceptable degrees: BSN or ADN
  • Eligible for a sign-on bonus

Role Purpose

The primary responsibility of this position is to deliver direct patient care, which encompasses assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, all in accordance with established nursing care standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Foster a patient- and family-centered care approach in a supportive environment.
  • Educate patients and their families on managing their health conditions, including post-treatment care and medication administration.
  • Engage in activities that enhance patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance while participating in professional development.
  • Collaborate with the interprofessional team to develop, implement, and document individualized care plans with clear goals, ensuring effective communication throughout the care continuum.
  • Utilize critical nursing skills to assess and address the physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs of patients, considering their preferences and any barriers to care.
  • This position is classified as safety-sensitive, requiring constant alertness and safe work practices.
Minimum Requirements
  • Education: Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing
  • Experience: No prior experience required
  • Licenses & Certifications: Registered Nurse (RN)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
