Our Opportunity

Chewy is seeking an Associate Director Executive Recruiter to serve as a key leader in attracting world-class executive talent. As a strategist, thought leader, and subject matter expert in executive recruiting, this role will work directly with the company’s most senior executives to help the business scale and recruit top leaders for executive roles across multiple business lines.

This role requires a forward-thinking executive recruiter who looks around corners, anticipating future business and talent needs while continuously evolving how we identify, assess, and engage executive talent. The ideal candidate embraces AI, technology, and innovative ways of working to elevate search execution, improve decision-making, and create capacity for higher-value work, all while maintaining an unwavering focus on delivering an exceptional experience for our stakeholders and candidates.

This position reports to the Director of Executive Search and will be a key member of the Executive Search team within Talent Acquisition. Additionally, as a senior member of the TA organization, you will have the opportunity to mentor and coach others.

The Associate Director Executive Recruiter owns and executes Director to Vice President level searches and will be well-versed in all aspects of an executive search including research strategy, candidate engagement and development, senior client management, and offer negotiations with multiple components of compensation. While this individual will have some research partnership, they own the full lifecycle of recruiting from talent mapping to interviewing to leading debriefs and closing candidates. Their work should transcend search execution, leveraging a deep knowledge of team and business objectives to serve as a thought partner for senior leaders and a true talent consultant. The role is a critical senior position that will help drive continued talent excellence and growth at Chewy.

What You'll Do

  • Critically assess teams and organizations, applying an expert eye to potential talent opportunities and challenges

  • Create robust search strategies to identify top talent, including talent in niche spaces

  • Effectively get and keep the attention of external talent, nurturing relationships that go beyond particular searches

  • Partner with C-level clients in search conceptualization and strategy, leading meetings and crafting succinct written communication on search progress

  • Assess external talent using behavioral and technical evaluation techniques

  • Provide strategic guidance, education, and calibration techniques for senior leaders and interview teams

  • Leverage AI, technology, market intelligence, and innovative recruiting practices to continuously improve search execution while enhancing the experience for candidates and stakeholders

What You'll Need

  • 10+ years of full life cycle recruiting experience, with at least 3 years in executive recruiting, both tech and non-tech, in competitive market spaces

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  • High operational acuity with a strong focus on building and executing a scalable, operationally sound strategy, and offering data-driven insights to influence

  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and business aptitude; proven track record of partnering with, advising, and influencing executive leadership and connecting business evolution to talent priorities

  • Project management: Experience driving/leading multi-faceted executive hiring initiatives across various functional groups

  • Ability to influence peers, candidates, stakeholders, partners through quality data, sound decision making, and executive presence

  • Comfort with ambiguity; ability to quickly pivot to meet the changing needs of Chewy

  • Passion for the candidate experience and representing the Chewy brand throughout talent lifecycle

  • Forward-thinking mindset with demonstrated curiosity for AI, emerging technologies, and evolving executive recruiting practices. Ability to thoughtfully apply new tools to improve outcomes while preserving a high-touch experience for executive candidates and senior stakeholders

The base salary range for this role is $137,500 - $221,500.00.
  • The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant. C08+ positions may also be eligible for annual bonus.
