As Indiana's most comprehensive healthcare system, IU Health is committed to delivering exceptional care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and is seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join our growing System Nursing Call Center (SNCC) team. In this role, you will provide after-hours telephone triage and clinical support to patients across the state of Indiana. This remote after-hours opportunity offers evening and overnight shifts during the week, as well as weekend day and overnight shift options. Ideal for experienced nurses who thrive in autonomous practice, the role combines symptom-based telephone triage and prescription refill management. Using clinical expertise and evidence-based protocols, nurses remotely assess patient needs, determine the appropriate level of care, provide patient education, and serve as a key liaison between patients and providers. During after-hours operations, nurses focus on urgent patient concerns when ambulatory clinics are closed, managing a diverse population of patients.
Initial onboarding and training is delivered through a hybrid model that combines onsite and virtual learning with experienced Clinical Coaches and Nurse Educators. Newly hired nurses should expect occasional travel to Indianapolis for required in-person training sessions during the onboarding period.
  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Requires 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Requires basic life support (BLS) certification through the AHA annually.
  • Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
  • Requires the ability to assess patients without face-to-face interaction.
