Job Description

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for Assistant Professor-in-Residence, Criminal Justice [R0152897]

Role of the Position

This position is designed to teach four courses a semester with an emphasis on policing. police administration, and police wellness. The individual is expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate education courses. Individual will also play a role in a proposed new executive/professional masterโ€™s degree in policing and work with the Unitโ€™s Executive Masters in Crisis and Emergency Management. Reassigned time to help facilitate and coordinate the new graduate degree. Must be able to teach in person as well as online courses. Must have a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, Criminology or another related field. Position is expected to start as soon as possible.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or other related fields from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)
  • 1-3 years of teaching experience and first-hand experience working with public safety agencies.
  • Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching in emergency management programs.
  • Knowledge of wellness programs for emergency management and/or police officers.
