Job description

As an executive protection security specialist, you’ll ensure the safety and security of Progressive’s CEO and other VIP representatives. In this position, you’ll collaborate with a dedicated team to oversee executive travel, conduct advance planning, and create comprehensive security strategies for private residences, events, trips, and off-site engagements. You’ll maintain a secure perimeter at Progressive’s Corporate Headquarters, respond to security incidents, manage facility access control, and provide exceptional customer service support. With a focus on discretion and sound judgment, you’ll work closely with executive assistants to ensure schedules align with security plans. Additionally, you may be required to travel domestically and internationally to deliver security support for Progressive’s business operations.

This position will require you to report into our Mayfield Village, Ohio office location.

Schedule: This role requires a high degree of scheduling flexibility to work after hours, nights, weekends and holidays as necessary.  Frequent overnight travel, including weekends. Travel frequency is 1-2 times per month.

Must-have qualifications

  • A minimum of eight years of executive protection work in corporate security, law enforcement, military, or related field
  • {OR} Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field of study (criminal justice) and a minimum of five years executive protection work in corporate security, law enforcement, military, or related field
  • This position requires a valid drivers license and auto insurance
  • This position requires compliance with Progressive's driving standards and/or policies
  • Must have a firearm bearer endorsement from Ohio Homeland Security and/or qualify under the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act to carry a firearm
  • Must have a current Basic Life Support (AED, CPR) certificate, or be able to obtain within 6 months of employment

  • Demonstrated expertise as a first responder, with the ability to act quickly and effectively in emergencies.
  • Exceptional ability to maintain a professional and composed demeanor in high-pressure or stressful environments.
  • Advanced proficiency in computer systems, including Microsoft Office, along with a deep understanding of physical security industry tools such as access control, visitor management, alarm systems, surveillance systems, and incident reporting platforms.
  • Ability to evaluate situations, apply company policies, and seek assistance when necessary, all while remaining calm and composed under pressure.

Compensation

  • $89,600 - $119,500/year
  • Gainshare annual cash incentive payment up to 30% of your eligible earnings based on company performance

  • Sufficient manual dexterity to operate job-related equipment such as radios, telephones, firearms, cameras, etc.
  • Ability to operate job-related equipment, including a motor vehicle, while performing multiple tasks such as radio operations and observation.
  • Vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Involves frequent driving.
