Position Summary:
The objective of this position is to be a Junior Trader on the Municipal Bond Desk working with other Traders, Salespeople and interacting with clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage daily trading; maintain and update inventory records of fixed income securities, retain documentation on trades and ensure timely execution of orders with confirmation of compliance and regulatory adherence.
  • Market analysis and valuation; continuously perform market research and analyze market conditions (price, issue, market trends, etc.).
  • Trading strategy; develop trading strategies utilizing records to identify and leverage opportunities in the development of innovative trading ideas and entry into new markets.
  • Client relationship management; develop and foster client relationships, constantly work with clients to learn and optimize their financial goals by identifying, presenting and purchasing the best fixed income products. Provides guidance on transactions and associated risks.
  • May assist with upgrading trading technology/programming needs.

Required Licenses and Registrations
Candidates must already have FINRA certification SIE, Series 7 and Series 63 to apply this role.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and 2-5 years of experience with fixed income municipal securities are required.
  • Solid knowledge of risk management principles, quantitative electronic trading, statistical analysis, and model optimization.
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, etc.), electronic and algorithmic trading systems. Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, effective speaker and active listening)

  • Solid knowledge of fixed income markets and various trading strategies

  • Solid knowledge of the trading process and electronic trading systems (e.g. Bloomberg, Tradeweb, MarketAxess, etc.)
  • Excellent decision making, negotiation, results and detailed oriented skills; ability to make real-time trading decisions weighing complex circumstances under considerable time pressure
  • Solid organizational and planning skills
  • Strong research, risk management and problem solving skills
  • Strong work ethic; ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Team player; capacity to collaborate with firm associates
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Ability to work and represent the firm with all levels of employees, industry associates, external organizations and clients, including C-Suite (executive presence)
