Job description

About US
Founded in 2018, with employees across the world, The Block is the leading research, analysis, and news brand in the digital asset space. The Block's team spans 5 continents and 15+ time zones, covering the global cryptocurrency space 24/7. At The Block, we see digital assets as a ubiquitous part of the future. As this space continues to evolve, we view our role as the trusted moderator and authoritative voice for those who invest in, work with, make decisions about, or seek to understand digital assets. The Block delivers deep insight into how the emerging digital assets sector interacts with traditional finance, technology, governments, and markets. We reach hundreds of thousands of technologists, financial market participants, Fortune 500 professionals, global service providers, policymakers, and more through our main website, dedicated Research Portal, podcast, and events.
Why Join The Block
  • Shape the narrative of crypto education, media, and research
  • Join a company that's respected in the space and has the audience, platform, and reach to move markets
  • Work remotely with a high-performance team that values ownership, speed, and clarity
  • Be part of a business that's expanding beyond media into SaaS, certification, and enterprise offerings
  • Competitive comp, equity, and benefits package

About the role
  • We're looking for a Strategic Partnerships Associate Director to help identify, develop, and manage high-impact partnerships across media, data, financial services, and the digital assets ecosystem. This is a single-threaded owner role reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with cross-functional teams to build relationships that expand The Block's reach, strengthen its products, and create new commercial opportunities. You will shape partnership strategy from the top down and drive execution from the ground up - this is as much about running the weekly grind of a partnership as it is about setting its direction, turning strategic relationships into durable business outcomes.
  • You will help define where technical integration, commercial alignment, and joint go-to-market efforts can create the most value for The Block. You will develop a clear point of view, represent these partnerships with senior stakeholders, and personally drive the day-to-day work that spans multi-year planning and weekly execution - chasing down blockers, keeping work streams on track, and doing the detailed follow-through yourself rather than delegating it.

What you'll do
  • Serve as the primary owner and point of contact for our external partners, personally accountable for the direction, operating rhythm, and outcomes of each partnership, including the tactical work of keeping things moving week to week.
  • Develop and drive multi-year partnership strategies and joint plans that connect The Block's business priorities, product roadmap, and strategy with concrete partner initiatives - and then own getting those plans executed.
  • Build strong working relationships across partner organizations, including executives, media, branding, product management, engineering, sales, and marketing stakeholders.
  • Run a disciplined operating cadence across complex initiatives, with clear priorities, owners, timelines, coordination points, and follow-through you drive yourself.
  • Coordinate cross-functional work inside The Block to support partnership goals, aligning teams across editorial, research, media, product, engineering, sales, marketing, and the executive group.
  • Translate partner opportunities and requests into actionable internal plans, including roadmap discussions, integration needs, commercial motions, and executive recommendations.
  • Track and communicate measurable partnership outcomes such as pipeline influence, annual recurring revenue impact, integration progress, and joint go-to-market execution.
  • Represent the partnerships at the executive level by preparing clear recommendations, briefing executives, and helping drive alignment on investments, trade-offs, and next steps.

Tools we use: Slack, Google Analytics, OBS, Figma, Twitter/X Analytics, YouTube Studio, Wordpress...
What You'll Bring
We're looking for someone who has:
  • 3-4 years of experience building and managing strategic partnerships, business development relationships, or alliance programs with media, research, financial services, or crypto companies.
  • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to operate as a single-threaded owner who is accountable for both strategy and execution, and comfortable doing the hands-on work personally rather than handing it off.
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders on high-visibility initiatives, including preparing executive briefings, framing recommendations, and driving follow-through.
  • Ability to assess opportunities and translate them into clear business plans and partnership proposals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex partnership topics into clear recommendations for executives and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong project and program management skills, including the ability to organize complex workstreams, prioritize effectively, and keep multiple initiatives moving through direct, hands-on management.
  • Ability to influence without formal authority, build strong working relationships across internal and external teams, and navigate multiple priorities with sound judgment.
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment.

Bonus if you have:
  • Experience or strong knowledge of Wall Street, financial markets, institutional finance or digital assets.
  • Existing relationships across media, finance, data, or crypto industries.
  • MBA or other relevant advanced degree.

What Success Looks Like
After 3-6 months in this role, you will have:
  • Execute and formally launch 2 to 3 high-priority partnership initiatives within the first 6 months to significantly expand our brand visibility and or revenue opportunities.
  • Develop, present, and gain internal senior stakeholder approval on 2-3 comprehensive partnership business cases per quarter that align with our goals for market influence, thought leadership, audience growth and revenue goals.
  • Successfully advance at least 2 to 3 major partnership opportunities from the initial proposal phase through to final agreement negotiations within the first 6 months.
