Job description

The BackLot Assistant Kitchen Manager (BLAKM) will work closely with the BackLot Executive Kitchen Manager to ensure the kitchen is running smoothly and efficiently. They are also responsible for the overall operation of the kitchen in the absence of the Kitchen Manager. 

 

 

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Exhibit strong organization, leadership, and communication skills and be able to work well under pressure.
  • Ensure that all food is prepared and cooked to the highest standards set by the Kitchen Manager.
  • Assist with ordering supplies and maintaining inventory levels.
  • Assist with the inventory process and ensure all par levels in coolers and freezers are stocked.
  • Monitor food waste-management and take steps to implement processes to reduce waste.
  • Help train new kitchen team members in proper food preparation, food handling techniques, safety procedures, and knife skills.
  • Enforce sanitation standards and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Create weekly schedules for kitchen staff.
  • Perform opening and closing duties as needed.
  • Adhere to all local health and safety regulations.

 

 

What We Are Looking For: 

  • Required to be at least 19 years of age.
  • Required to have or be willing to get ServSafe Certification.
  • 2+ years as an assistant kitchen manager or similar role in a restaurant.
  • Required to have a culinary school degree and be up to date with culinary trends and optimized kitchen processes.
  • Available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
  • Working knowledge of professional kitchen equipment and procedures.
  • Firsthand experience with inventory management and Vista POS.
