EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATOR (ID: T237322)
Position Summary
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Executive Administrator to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for a large clinical department. This executive-level position is responsible for directing and managing a broad range of administrative functions, including financial affairs, departmental operations, research administration, risk management, compliance, personnel management, faculty recruitment and retention, and facilities and space planning.
The Executive Administrator serves as the department's primary representative to governmental agencies, foundations, industry partners, and other external organizations. This role works collaboratively with University leadership to support departmental goals while ensuring compliance with institutional policies and regulatory requirements.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Direct, plan, organize, monitor, and evaluate complex departmental operations and administrative functions.

  • Provide executive oversight for financial management, budgeting, and operational planning.

  • Coordinate and oversee research administration activities, ensuring compliance with University policies, grant requirements, and regulatory standards.

  • Lead initiatives related to faculty recruitment, retention, and departmental personnel management.

  • Manage compliance, risk management, and physical facilities and space utilization.

  • Serve as the primary departmental liaison with governmental agencies, foundations, industry partners, and other external organizations.

  • Collaborate with University officials to support intramural and extramural research programs.

  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, evaluate, coach, and develop departmental staff.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field.

  • Ten (10) years of progressively responsible related experience.
