Job Title: Legal Intern (Spring 2027)

Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid)

Assignment Type: Contract Internship (Spring 2027)

Pay: $20.00/hour

Work Schedule: 15–20 hours per week | January 12, 2027 – April 21, 2027 | Hybrid schedule with two in-office days per week (Wednesdays required)

Our client is a well-established national membership organization representing professionals within a highly regulated industry. Their in-house legal department partners across the organization to provide guidance on contracts, intellectual property, compliance, policy development, and regulatory matters. This internship offers meaningful exposure to a variety of corporate legal functions while working alongside an experienced and collaborative legal team.

Job Description:

We are seeking three Legal Interns for the Spring 2027 semester to support an in-house legal department with a wide range of legal and administrative projects. This internship provides hands-on experience in contract review, legal research, intellectual property, policy development, and legislative tracking. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented law students who are eager to strengthen their legal research and writing skills in a professional environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with trademark, copyright, and intellectual property documentation, filings, and record management.
  • Review routine legal agreements, including non-disclosure agreements, service agreements, amendments, and statements of work.
  • Conduct legal research related to federal and state laws, regulations, and emerging legal developments.
  • Draft research summaries, policy documents, memoranda, and other legal materials.
  • Support legislative and regulatory monitoring efforts by tracking proposed state actions and preparing briefing materials.
  • Maintain legal records, organize documentation, edit legal correspondence, and assist with presentations and other administrative tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Juris Doctor (JD) degree at an accredited law school in their 2L year
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Strong legal research, analytical, and legal writing abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous legal internship, law clerk, or summer associate experience.
  • Exposure to contracts, corporate law, intellectual property, or transactional legal work.
  • Experience with contract lifecycle management software (e.g., Ironclad) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with intellectual property management platforms (e.g., Alt Legal or Corsearch) is preferred.

Additional Details:

  • Internship is paid; academic credit is not available.
  • Candidates must be local to the Washington, DC area and able to work on-site two days per week, including Wednesdays.
