Position Summary

A Full Stack Developer II within VGM Group’s Corporate IT department is responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and maintaining internal applications as well as enterprise technology and automation solutions that support various VGM business units and are critical to the company’s growth. This role blends modern software development practices with Microsoft Azure cloud technologies and APA/RPA-style automation tools to reduce manual effort, improve reliability, and scale digital capabilities across the organization.


The Full Stack Developer II will be part of an agile development team, building and working on enterprise grade software systems primarily on top of the Microsoft .NET development stack. All developers will participate in Agile/Scrum software development methodology, perform full stack development, and are expected to understand business processes and maintain domain knowledge.

Reporting Accountability: Software Developer Lead

Working Location: On-Site in Waterloo, IA

Work Hours Classification: Full-time, Monday-Friday 8-5 (flexible), occasional off hours when job duties require (remote working arrangement)


Key Responsibilities:

As a member of VGM’s Corporate IT team, this role provides application development, automation development, and support services for new and existing solutions across the organization.

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain internal web, API, and service-based applications.
  • Adhere to established development standards, coding conventions, and secure development practices.
  • Participate in requirements gathering, solution design, technical estimations, and peer code reviews.
  • Assist in logical and physical database design and performance optimization (SQL Server and/or cloud databases).
  • Troubleshoot, support, and continuously improve applications in partnership with business stakeholders and other IT areas.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions) and infrastructure-as-code where applicable.
  • Monitor and optimize application performance, reliability, security, and cost efficiency within Azure environments.
  • Collaborate with security, infrastructure, and architecture teams to align solutions with enterprise cloud standards and guardrails.
  • Design, develop, deploy, and maintain automations using APA/RPA-style tools (e.g., Microsoft Power Automate, Copilot) and/or scripting frameworks.
  • Integrate automations with enterprise applications, APIs, message queues, and data sources to enable end-to-end workflows.
  • Ensure automation solutions comply with governance, security, data privacy, and audit requirements; follow role-based access and credential management practices.
  • Perform other duties and complete other projects as assigned.


Key Qualifications:


Technical Experience (Required)

  • 3-7+ years of professional experience in software engineering or application development.
  • Experience building and supporting process automations using APA/RPA-style platforms (e.g., Power Automate, MS Copilot) and/or scripting (PowerShell, Python).
  • Proficiency in .NET, primarily C#; Node.js; experience with modern front-end framework (ie: Vue).
  • Strong SQL skills and knowledge of relational database concepts (SQL Server/Azure SQL).
  • Hands-on experience delivering solutions with Microsoft Azure services (e.g., App Services, Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, Storage, Azure SQL).
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, source control (Git), and automated testing.


Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field highly preferred.

  • Strong analytical, conceptualization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills; able to clearly articulate technical concepts and trade-offs to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to collaborate with team members and take initiative, own outcomes, and adapt to changing priorities.

Compensation Overview:

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.
