Throughout the course of the internship experience, we deliver diverse personal and professional development opportunities that further develop skillsets that can be implemented both during and after the program. What you will be doing as a Data Science Intern:

Meijer is seeking candidates for an Merchandising and Marketing internship opportunity in our Data Science area. Join our program to get experience in your field while also learning more about the retail industry and the breadth of career opportunities that support the customer shopping experiences.

The Data Science team at Meijer leads the strategy, development and integration of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence at Meijer. Our Interns will have the opportunity to work directly with teams with product development and business teams to define, develop and implement a data science-based solution. Over the course of the summer the intern will have the opportunity to work with the latest cloud technology including machine learning and artificial intelligence platforms.

Qualifications:

  • Progress toward a Bachelor's or Master's Degree - Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or related quantitative field.

  • Customer focused -- dedicated to meeting the expectations of internal and external customers.

  • Relationship skills -- can create positive working relationships with customers, team members, leadership, and other internal and external constituencies.

  • Communication skills -- conveys the right information in writing and verbally.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities (will vary depending on specific project requirements):

  • Programming Languages: Proficiency in SQL, Python, R, and cloud-based platforms like Databricks.
