Fire Protection Consultant โ€“ Austin, TX

Salary Range: $130,000 โ€“ $175,000 (depending on experience)
Relocation allowance available if necessary.
In addition to base salary, the role includes two pro rata bonuses: one based on company performance and one based on individual performance.

Position Overview

Our client, a leading fire protection engineering and life safety consulting firm, is seeking a Fire Protection Consultant to join their Austin office. This role provides the opportunity to work on lithium-ion energy facilities, super high-rises, casinos, and other complex commercial, residential and industrial projects. Itโ€™s ideal for professionals looking to expand technical expertise and progress toward professional licensure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide fire protection and life safety consulting services for a variety of facility types.
  • Develop, review, and optimize fire sprinkler and alarm system designs, including performance-based engineering solutions.

  • Conduct plan reviews, on-site inspections, and code compliance evaluations.

  • Assess high-piled storage and other complex arrangements for permitting and compliance.

  • Identify, classify, and document hazardous materials for regulatory purposes.

  • Prepare, review, and validate technical reports and project documentation.

  • Support business development and maintain strong client relationships; prior experience in this area is a plus but not required.

Candidate Profile
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Fire Protection, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Civil Engineering.

  • 3โ€“10+ years of experience in fire protection, life safety, or code consulting.

  • EIT or PE preferred, or actively pursuing licensure.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Capable of working independently, managing priorities, and meeting deadlines.
