Job description

SUMMARY:

The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) serves as a senior executive leader responsible for aligning Bethanna’s administrative operations and strategic advancement efforts in support of the agency’s mission, program services, and community impact. The CAO ensures Bethanna’s internally and externally facing operational systems, along with organizational priorities, are coordinated, responsive, compliant, and positioned to support high-quality service delivery.

The CAO provides oversight for key administrative functions, including Information Technology, Facilities, HIPAA/related compliance, and emergency preparedness while also leading strategic advancement functions such as Development/Advancement, communications, community impact reporting, strategic planning, as well as new program and business development.

As an executive leader, the CAO partners with the CEO and executive leadership team to champion Bethanna’s Christian mission, Core Values, advance organizational priorities and culture, lead cross-functional initiatives, and implement systems that support quality, scalability, and sustainability across Bethanna.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s Degree (nonprofit management, public administration, business administration, social work, or human services)
  • 12-15+ years of progressive leadership experience, preferably in a nonprofit, social service, or other mission-driven organization.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior executive role reporting to CEO (e.g. COO, CAO, Executive Director, VP, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated success in leading multiple departments simultaneously.
  • Subject matter expertise in project execution, compliance, change management, etc., applicable to nonprofit human services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Administrative Operations and Organizational Alignment
  • Align administrative operations and strategic advancement efforts so internal systems, external-facing functions, and organizational priorities are coordinated and responsive.
  • Provide day-to-day oversight of key administrative functions, including Information Technology, Facilities, HIPAA/related policy, and administrative support department procedures.
  • Coordinate, monitor and oversee the activities of Bethanna’s HIPAA Compliance Officer and outsourced HIPAA Security functions.
  • Oversee, and regularly update Bethanna’s Continuity of Operations/Emergency Preparedness Plan and related documents. 
Development/Advancement, and Communications:
  • Oversee Bethanna’s Development Department, supervising the Development Directors, ensuring donor engagement and fundraising goals are met.
  • Coordinate and oversee the production of external constituent communications including social media, newsletters, annual reports, program reports, and community impact reporting.

Strategic Advancement and Mission Sustainability:

  • Evaluate and pursue new service opportunities in alignment with Bethanna’s mission, organizational priorities and long-term sustainability.
  • Maintain a current working knowledge of community needs and industry trends in innovative best practices in order to support program development.
  • Lead strategic plan development and execution for Bethanna and our affiliated entities aligned with CEO and Board of Directors vision, incorporating stakeholder input, community needs, best practices, and market conditions.
