Job description

Who are we hiring?

Sphere Entertainment is looking for a Senior Director Imaging Systems to manage the integration of Sphere's camera hardware and imaging processing software with the Studio Capture and Production workflows.

Reporting to VP AED Product Development, the ideal candidate will have a proven track record of project management, team leadership, software integration, cameras and optics, and business processes such as RFPs, and IP management.

What will you do?

  • Provide oversight of the integration of hardware and software, testing, and implementation across the Big Sky video capture platform
  • Manage the development and professional growth of the Imaging Systems Team
  • Coordinate the consolidation of customer needs and development of Product Requirement Documents
  • Negotiate vendor contracts to ensure favorable terms and Sphere IP protection
  • Participate in image sensor design process
  • Participate in lens optical and mechanical design process
  • Participate in camera hardware, electrical, and thermal design process
  • Protect Sphere IP through invention disclosures and patent applications
  • Prepare reports and regularly meet with executive stakeholders
  • Provide exceptional experiences for our guests, partners, and team members, including by adhering to our appearance and presentation guidelines while on-site. ย 
  • Other duties as assigned by management
  • Supervision:
    • Ability to lead, mentor, coach and develop employees
    • Reports to AED VP Product Development

What do you need to succeed?

  • Engineering or Physics Degree with a minimum of 10 years' experience with optical systems and/or related software and hardware development.
  • Proven track record of delivering advanced imaging project(s) or equivalent with aggressive deadlines
  • 5-years Supervisory/management experience
  • Experience with standard engineering principles and workflow
  • Experience in product development and production is a plus
  • Proven technical project management experience
  • Proven delivery of multiple projects with competing priorities

Special Requirements

  • Role will require domestic travel
    • Monthly trips to Bozeman, MT office
    • Other travel on as-needed basis
