Job description

Avery's House is a mental health treatment provider for adolescents. We are expanding services with a specialized residential program supporting neurodivergent adolescents through an individualized, strengths-based, and trauma-informed approach. Under the direction of the Clinical Director, the Primary Therapist provides direct client care and supports a safe, structured, and affirming environment per company's policies, procedures and best practices.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Provides direct support services to include engaging clients in Individual, Family, and Group Therapy, topics related to recovery, health and wellness promotion, and crisis management.
  • Conducts assessments or screenings with neurodivergent clients to evaluate the nature of their presenting problems in order to determine their needs and develop appropriate treatment plan goals.
  • Develops and provides individual treatment plans; monitors, evaluates and documents client's progress.
  • Has responsibility for intake documentation. Prepares progress notes, event notifications and other documentation regarding clients in accordance with regulatory requirements and company policies and procedures.
  • Monitors case load daily to ensure required documentation is completed timely; including, but not limited to, assessments, session notes, treatment plans, case reviews and discharge plans.
  • Facilitates coordination of care and utilization reviews to include case review, therapeutic interventions, and client progress in treatment.
  • Completes other tasks as assigned.

NEURODIVERGENT CLIENT SUPPORT
  • Demonstrate understanding of autism spectrum disorder, sensory processing differences, developmental disabilities, and executive functioning challenges.
  • Utilize neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed approaches when interacting with clients.
  • Recognize sensory sensitivities and modify communication and environmental factors when appropriate.
  • Support individualized coping strategies, visual supports, structured routines, and sensory regulation interventions.
  • Promotes client dignity, autonomy, and strength-based care.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Master's Degree and Licensed in AZ in a field related to Behavioral Health, this includes: MA, MSW, PhD Or Licensed Professional health care provider, or
  • Master's Degree and registered with the AZBBHE and in the process of obtaining licensure.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND ATTITUDES REQUIRED
  • Knowledge of software programs for personal computer use, especially word processing, email, and spreadsheets.
  • Knowledge and experience in counseling and case management with mental health, behavioral health, and substance abuse clients.
  • Knowledge and experience working with neurodivergent clients.
  • Ability to prepare, implement, and analyze treatment plans and psychiatric reports.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to carry out assigned projects to their completion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships, gaining cooperation and resolving conflicts.
  • Ability to plan and organize case workload, manage deadlines of him/herself.
  • Ability to maintain and demonstrate ethical professional standards and demeanor, including the confidentiality of employee and client data, client boundaries, and other sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated competence with, and continued commitment to respect for cultural differences and diversity, protecting client rights.
  • Recognition of the limits of one's own professional expertise and the willingness to seek supervision and/or support, as needed.
  • Makes clinical and organizational decisions with the clients' and agency's well-being and best interests in mind.
  • Provide treatment that promotes client dignity, independence, individuality, strength, privacy and choice, recognizing the unique needs of the client population served by the agency.
  • Provide the behavioral health services that the agency is authorized to provide and that the staff member is qualified to provide.
  • Recognize obvious symptoms of a mental disorder, personality disorder, or substance abuse.
  • Identify types of medications commonly prescribed for mental disorders, personality disorders and substance abuse, and the common side effects and adverse reactions to medications.
  • Recognize, prevent and respond to a situation in which the client may be a danger to himself or others, behaves in an aggressive or destructive manner, is experiencing a crisis situation or medical emergency.
  • Recognize and respond to fire, disaster, hazard, and medical emergency: and
  • Has completed all the requirements above and is documented in application in training including the ability to pass background checks required by Purpose Healing Center.

SCHEDULE
We are hiring two full-time Therapist positions for the following schedules:
  • Position 1: Tuesday-Saturday
  • Hours: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Position 2: Sunday-Thursday
  • Hours: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $75,000 per year
Work Location: In person, Fountain Hills, Arizona
