Executive Coaching Remote information

What is executive coaching and how does it work remotely?

Executive coaching is a professional relationship that helps leaders and executives improve their performance, develop leadership skills, and achieve organizational goals. When conducted remotely, coaching sessions typically take place via video calls, phone, or specialized online platforms. This allows for greater flexibility and accessibility, enabling clients to connect with coaches regardless of location. Remote executive coaching still provides personalized feedback, goal setting, and accountability, just as in-person coaching does. It’s an effective way for busy professionals to receive expert guidance without the need for travel.

What are some typical challenges faced by remote executive coaches, and how can they be addressed?

Remote executive coaches often encounter challenges such as building rapport with clients virtually, maintaining engagement during sessions, and navigating different time zones. To address these, coaches can use high-quality video conferencing tools, establish clear communication protocols, and set expectations for responsiveness. Additionally, investing in ongoing professional development and leveraging digital resources helps coaches stay effective and connected in a remote setting.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an executive coach in a remote setting, and why are they important?

To thrive as a remote Executive Coach, you need expertise in leadership development, business strategy, and coaching methodologies, often supported by certifications such as ICF or EMCC. Familiarity with video conferencing platforms, digital collaboration tools, and coaching management software is essential. Exceptional listening, emotional intelligence, and the ability to build trust virtually are critical soft skills in this role. These capabilities enable effective guidance, foster client growth, and ensure successful outcomes despite the challenges of remote communication.

What is the difference between Executive Coaching Remote vs Leadership Development Consultant?

Executive Coaching Remote focuses on personalized, one-on-one coaching for executives, primarily delivered remotely. Leadership Development Consultants design and implement broader training programs to develop leadership skills across teams, often involving workshops. While both roles aim to enhance leadership capabilities, Executive Coaching Remote is more individualized and flexible, whereas Leadership Development Consultants work on organizational programs.

Job description

Our client is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that helps NGO and nonprofit leaders around the world build stronger, more sustainable organizations through executive coaching, a structured curriculum, and a global peer community, anchored by a highly selective Fellowship program. Since 2012, they have supported 300+ nonprofit leaders globally, with alumni organizations seeing significant gains in impact and revenue after completing the program.

They are entering a new chapter under a fresh multi-year strategy focused on diversifying revenue beyond individual donors, activating their global alumni network, and expanding their footprint. They're looking for a builder and storyteller to serve as the organization's chief executive, lead ambassador, and top revenue generator: someone who can cultivate funder and partner relationships, energize a global community of Fellows and alumni, open new revenue channels, and work hands-on with a small, high-performing team to execute the strategy.

This is a remote role, and candidates may be based anywhere in the United States. Some international and domestic travel is required.

Responsibilities:

- Translate the organization's multi-year strategic plan into annual goals, team accountability, and board-level reporting

- Lead the shift to a diversified revenue model spanning fee-for-service partnerships, fee-for-service programming, and traditional philanthropy

- Build and manage a strong pipeline across major-donor fundraising, corporate engagement, and earned-income opportunities

- Represent the organization at conferences and funder events, building its visibility through thought leadership and public speaking

- Build trust-based relationships with board members, donors, alumni, and corporate partners; activate board members as connectors and fundraisers

- Lead and support a small, high-performing team, staying hands-on wherever needed while protecting team capacity as the organization grows

- Maintain a strong enough command of the program model to represent, sell, and occasionally help deliver it

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree required; MBA a plus

- 8-12+ years of senior leadership experience in a nonprofit, foundation, accelerator, or mission-driven business

- Experience working with or supporting nonprofit leaders, social entrepreneurs, or NGOs

- Track record building revenue through fundraising, partnerships, earned income, or business development

- Track record leading teams of 10-20 people, including in remote, globally distributed environments

- Warm, credible public communicator comfortable representing an organization externally

- Entrepreneurial, low-ego operator willing to pitch in wherever needed on a small team

- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed

- Genuine passion for and excitement about the organization’s mission

Compensation: Targeting a base salary of $120-$140k, DOE
