Title:

     Executive Functioning Coach at Hamden Middle School

Qualifications

  1. Minimum of an Associate's Degree or the equivalent of two years of college.
  2. Experience working with adolescents within the last three years.  Experience working in a school setting preferred.
  3. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively via speaking and writing.
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively with various members of the school community.
  5. Alternative qualifications as may be deemed appropriate or acceptable by the Board of Education.

Essential Performance Responsibilities:

  • Works with small groups students to develop their executive functioning skills (e.g., organization, prioritization of tasks, goal-setting and execution, time management, self-advocacy effective note taking)

  • Delivers executive functioning lessons as required by the Hamden Middle School Principal or his designee

  • Guides students in applying learned skills to their immediate academic tasks, and follows-up to ensure ongoing student success

  • Provides in-class supports to students when necessary to ensure ongoing students success

  • Collects and analyzes formative and summative data on student progress and makes adjustments accordingly 

  • Maintains regular and ongoing communication with teachers regarding student academic and executive functioning needs

  • Works closely with school administration, curriculum specialists and other staff to identify students needing support in acquiring executive functioning skills

  • Attends Team Meetings as deemed necessary by school administration and/or Team Leaders

  • Writes and submits reports on students' progress when required by school administration 

Reports To:  
Hamden Middle School Principal 

Job Responsibility Requirements: All work is to be conducted in compliance with applicable employer, state, local and federal safety and environmental requirements.

Terms of Employment:

Per Hamden Public Schools Board of Education. This is an at-will position that is not in a collective bargaining unit.

Duration of work year:

This is a 10-month (180 school day) position.

Salary:

The annual salary for this 10-month position is $30,000

Evaluation:

The person in this position will be evaluated by the Hamden Middle School Principal or his designee.
