Responsibilities:

A Hotel Chief Engineer directs all property maintenance, engineering operations, and facility asset management. They ensure building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) run efficiently, oversee maintenance staff, manage budgets, and enforce safety regulations. The role balances executive planning with technical problem-solving.


Core Responsibilities

  • Facility & Asset Management: Maintain the physical plant, guest rooms, public spaces, and grounds to maximum operational efficiency and aesthetic standards.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Design and execute scheduled maintenance programs to minimize equipment downtime, room defects, and emergency repairs.
  • Team Leadership: Hire, train, schedule, and evaluate engineering staff and technicians.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all building operations comply with local, state, and federal codes, OSHA guidelines, and fire/life safety standards.
  • Budgeting & Capital Projects: Assist the General Manager with annual capital planning (CapEx), manage vendor contracts, and oversee energy efficiency programs.



Qualifications:
  • Prior hotel engineering experience preferred.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Strong HVAC skills and knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of PM Programs.
