Job Description

NBC Nightly News is seeking a Senior Producer with exceptional editorial judgment, a deep commitment to journalistic excellence, and a proven ability to lead and inspire teams. This role demands a dynamic newsroom leader who thrives in a fast-paced, high-stakes news environment. The Senior Producer will oversee multiple pieces per day in the daily broadcast, guiding the correspondent and producing team. They should have sharp news judgment, excellent writing skills, and a great eye for impactful visuals.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Oversee multiple pieces per day, guiding correspondents, producers, crews, and editors through every aspect of production.
  • Provide final sign-off for scripts and pieces once completed.
  • Pitch news-of-day stories for coverage, as well as long-lead feature pieces.
  • Work with Executive Producer and Senior Broadcast Producer on story development and show stacking, contributing to the overall show as well as individual pieces.
  • Edit anchor copy for accuracy, clarity, and impact.
  • Manage some staffers directly, providing mentorship, education, and guidance as needed.
  • Champion bold, innovative ideas that drive audience engagement
  • Assist the Executive Producer and Senior Broadcast Producer in the control room, coordinating with teams in the field.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in news, preferably at the national network level
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field
  • Extensive experience writing and producing tape packages.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across senior executives, show producers, bureau chiefs, correspondents, and production teams
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior staff
  • Strong leadership abilities, deep production expertise, and excellent broadcast writing skills
  • Must be willing to work in-office Tuesday-Saturday in New York, NY
  • Availability to work evenings, holidays, and during breaking news events as needed

Additional Requirements:

  • Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.

Salary range: $170,000 - $250,000 (bonus eligible)
