BluePearl Pet Hospital is looking for a Director of Operational Finance. The Director of Finance Operations provides high-quality forecasting and commercial insight to improve business predictability by region and hospital.
Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions

• Financial Reporting & Accountability: Owns regional P&L performance. Responsible for preparing monthly regional financial packages and partnering with leadership to ensure financial performance and variances are clearly communicated.
• Strategic Business Partnering: Partners closely with Divisional Vice Presidents (DVPs) to drive organic growth, improve operational performance, and maximize profitability across regions. Identifies opportunities, trends, and actionable insights to establish joint action plans and track accountability against goals.
• Business Case Execution: Ensures approved DVP business cases underpin planning and forecasting expectations. Rigorously monitors progress to ensure practice-wide implementation and holds respective leaders accountable for delivery.
• Team Leadership & Development: Leads the Operational Finance team in supporting divisional leaders with ad-hoc requests and strategic projects, while actively coaching and developing direct reports.
• Operational Financial Support: Provides hands-on financial support through ad-hoc analysis, review, planning, and control to ensure financial resources are managed appropriately (including new hospital openings, fleet management, pace-setters, etc.).
• Performance Variance Analysis: Conducts periodic, deep-dive analyses of business and financial performance across all regions and hospitals, focusing on actionable insights and variance analyses against the prior year and budget expectations.
• Trend Analysis: Analyzes current and historical trends in key performance indicators (KPIs) including all areas of revenue, cost of sales, labor, expenses, and capital expenditures by region.
• Financial Modeling & Capabilities: Enhances existing Operational Finance models and tools by bringing best practices from other industries, leading the development of robust, forward-looking planning and analysis capabilities.
• Strategic Planning Support: Supports BluePearl's strategic planning processes and the development of Finance and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) presentation decks by providing granular, hospital-and-regional-level insights.
• Cross-Functional Communication: Partners and communicates cross-functionally to analyze the business and assist with bringing operational ideas to successful implementation.

Education

• Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field (Required).
• MBA or CPA (Preferred).

Work Experience

• 8+ years of relevant corporate finance or operational FP&A experience (Required).
• 3+ years of leadership and people management experience (Required).
• Healthcare, retail, or multi-site veterinary industry experience is highly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Excellent financial modeling, P&L management, and strategic planning skills.
• Strong ability to influence senior executives, specifically Divisional Vice Presidents (DVPs).
• Advanced proficiency in financial systems (e.g., Workday, Adaptive Insights, or Excel).
