Job description

This is a part-time, adjunct faculty appointment with duties in the High Point University Workman School of Dental (WSDM), which delivers the Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree as well as a certificate in Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD). Professional rank will be commensurate with the candidate's level of experience and qualifications at time of hire.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • DDS or DMD degree (or foreign equivalent), active full dental licensure in the state of North Carolina

Experience and Training

  • 30 years of experience in clinical practice of dentistry
  • Preceptorship in a DMD or DDS program is preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Ability:

  • Robust verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional receptiveness and approachability
  • Poised and professional in representation of HPU WSDM
  • Receptive to feedback, performance improvement, and continuous coaching Knowledge of HPU SDMOH's core values and mission
  • Strong ability to articulate operational and analytical data
  • Clinical documentation, diagnosis, and treatment planning using electronic health records (EHR) such as EPIC systems.
  • Travel to oral health network sites

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The candidate selected for this position will perform all duties directed by the Dean of the WSDM:

Pre-Doctoral Simulation Clinics

Oversight, monitoring, and assessment of pre-clinical simulation lab performance, including operative and periodontal skills. Faculty will attend pre-clinical calibration in order to teach and assess students in the clinical skills coursework delivered in the first two years of the DMD curriculum.

Case Presentation

Faculty will have the opportunity to deliver case and problem-based learning as part of the first three years of the DMD curriculum.

Clinical Preceptorship

Faculty may be called upon, with proper notice and mutual agreement, by the Dean to provide coverage for DMD or AEGD learners in HPU Health practices.

  • Evaluation: Ongoing performance reviews is conducted along with an annual assessment by the Dean and includes input from the faculty and students.
