About the Role:

The Building Services Clerk is responsible for supporting daily building operations and facilities services at a regional federal government site. This position focuses on maintaining the physical functionality, safety, and operational readiness of the facility. Responsibilities include responding to building service requests, performing minor furniture adjustments and equipment relocations, replenishing facility and office supplies, coordinating maintenance needs, assisting with room setups for meetings and trainings, and supporting mail and delivery movement throughout the building.


The Building Services Clerk works throughout the facility to ensure workspaces, common areas, and support areas remain organized, stocked, and operational. This role requires physical mobility, the ability to lift and transport materials and equipment, and a hands-on approach to supporting building operations.


Normal operating hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage an electronic Facilities Help Desk for building and equipment service maintenance, furniture movement, and supply replenishment requests.
  • Maintain, repair, replace, replenish and reconfigure small furniture, fixtures, equipment and building supplies as requested via federal electronic Help Desk.
  • Transport boxes, small furniture or other items from various floors to designated locations.
  • Manage stocking, ordering, inspection and monitoring of standard and non-standard office supplies for a federal government site.
  • Manage scheduling of and setting up equipment for training and conference rooms.
  • Answer phone calls from federal government personnel, vendors, contractors and the general public in a professional, courteous and knowledgeable manner.
  • Assist with copying and finishing services for federal government personnel.
  • Greet visitors and callers with professionalism and courteousness and provide direction in accordance with Federal procedures.
  • Assist with visitor access in accordance with federal government security policies.
  • Assist with mail receipt, processing, scanning, electronic distribution, and physical dispatch for all offices at a federal government site.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Citizenship and Background: Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain a public trust clearance.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in administrative support functions

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be able to bend, stoop and lift up to 70 pounds overhead or onto moving equipment.
  • Demonstrated accurate data entry and reporting skills and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to function in high-pressure situations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).
