The Spring is growing and is hiring a part time Advocate Support for Wednesday-Saturday, 6pm-10pm

The Spring is a faith-based service provider, shelter, and advocacy organization for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking. We offer a safe home and supportive services that assist survivors and their children on their journey out of abuse.

The Shelter Support Advocate assists shelter staff with crisis calls, monitoring of entry and exit of guest and visitor traffic, and day to day administrative duties specific to guest advocacy and services.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Answer calls on the crisis line, provide crisis Intervention Information, safety planning and advocacy to caller; complete required intake documentation
  • Perform day-to-day shelter operations, advocacy and victim-centered, trauma-informed care services for guests
  • Provide supportive services to program participants including but not limited to immediate needs, referrals, crisis intervention and emergency assistance, etc.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of resources and services available in the communities served
  • Document all information regarding crisis calls and direct services as required by policy and procedure
  • Assist in creating a positive cultural environment of personal leadership, communications and teamwork within the shelter and throughout the organization
  • Transport guests in The Spring vehicle as needed
  • Monitor Entry and exit of guest and visitor traffic
  • Assist in daily charting on guests in specific files
  • Support meal preparation, transportation, children's activities, program specific events and monitor guest activity as needed
  • Be available for emergencies and respond accordingly
  • Attend training as needed to meet domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking standards
  • Available to work agreed-upon hours each week

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in domestic violence or sexual assault field, volunteer experience, or related experience is suggested
  • Experience working with diverse people and groups
  • Must be able to sign The Spring's Statement of Faith
  • Must have valid Oklahoma driver's license

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:

  • Knowledge and understanding of domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse issues and trends
  • Able to successfully handle multiple demands and perform effectively despite changing priorities
  • Willing and able to develop relationships with guests and their children within professional boundaries
  • Ability to respond to physical emergencies, including immediate evacuation of buildings and potential client medical and behavior situations
  • Ability to maintain client confidentiality

  • Ability to excel in results-oriented, challenging environment; demonstrate flexibility while keeping attention to detail
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
