Job description

JL Construction Corp is hiring an experienced Heavy Civil / Excavation Foreman to lead crews on excavation, utility, grading, and site development projects throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut.
We are looking for a hands-on leader who understands heavy civil construction, can manage crews efficiently, prioritize safety, communicate clearly, and keep projects moving on schedule.
JL Construction is a growing heavy civil excavation contractor based in Springfield, MA specializing in excavation, underground utilities, sitework, roadway, infrastructure, streetscape, park development, and commercial snow operations.
What We're Looking For
  • Experience leading excavation, utility, sitework, or heavy civil crews
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and construction documents
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • 3-5 Years of relevant experience in the field of excavation/horizontal construction
  • Ability to coordinate manpower, equipment, and daily production
  • Experience working around underground utilities, grading, drainage, and site development
  • Willingness to work hands-on alongside crews when needed
  • Experience with GPS Layout Equipment
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn industry-specific software programs quickly
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of OSHA and job site safety practices | OSHA 30 preferred
  • OSHA 10 required or ability to obtain quickly
  • Valid Driver's License required
  • CDL is a plus
  • NRMCA Concrete Finisher Certificate is a plus
Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily field operations and crew productivity
  • Coordinate equipment, materials, subcontractors, and manpower
  • Maintain safe and organized job sites
  • Communicate with project managers and superintendents regarding progress and scheduling
  • Ensure work is completed efficiently, safely, and according to plans/specifications
  • Assist with layout, problem-solving, and field coordination
