Role Description:

The Physical Education Teacher at Excalibur Gymnastics is a full-time, on-site role based in Virginia Beach, VA. This position is responsible for planning and delivering age-appropriate physical education and gymnastics-focused lessons, emphasizing fundamental movement skills, strength, flexibility, coordination, and safe technique. The teacher will supervise classes, demonstrate exercises, monitor athlete progress, and provide constructive feedback to support each athlete’s physical and mental development.

Daily tasks include executing provided lesson plans, maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment, coordinating with coaching staff and administration, and communicating regularly with families about student progress. The role also involves supporting team events, clinics, and camps, and contributing to the overall positive culture of the training center.

Qualifications

• Ability to work well with Children ages 2-12 with a variety of skill levels.
• Has the ability to teach motor skills, gymnastics fundamentals, and physical activity in a fun and engaging way.
• Ability to follow provided lesson plans.
• Strong understanding of Physical Education and child development, with the ability to apply these principles in a gymnastics, and recreational sports setting.
• Demonstrated experience in teaching, coaching, or leading groups.
• Knowledge of child and youth development, positive behavior management, and safe athletic training practices.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to creating an inclusive, encouraging, and positive environment for every kid.
• Basic knowledge of injury prevention, spotting, and safety protocols; with a willingness to learn.
• Previous experience in gymnastics, cheer, dance, tumbling, or related sports is preferred but not required. A willingness to learn and adapt is essential!
• Ability to successfully pass a background check.
• Ability to complete SafeSport Gymnastics training (U110) before your first day of instructing.
• Ability to complete the Concussion training before your first day of instructing.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must be able to work a rotating schedule including some Saturdays or Sundays; Sunday pay is time and a half (1.5X hourly rate)
