Job Description
PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Under general/limited supervision, the Part Time Specialist III, Wellness Center is responsible for multiple, significant functions in the campus Wellness Center. Ensures all LSC policies, practices and surrounding functions are carried out correctly.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Supervises the weight room
  • Maintains and cleans equipment
  • Welcomes guests to the Wellness Center
  • Teaches guests how to use the equipment and provides basic fitness information
  • Ensures rules and regulations are enforced
  • Provides basic first aid if necessary
  • Reports and resolves complaints
  • Must be able to re-rack weight plates
  • Responsible for cleaning equipment and surrounding floor space, cardiovascular machine, free weights and pin selector
  • Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
    • Capable of lifting up to 45 pounds
    • Ability to cooperate and work well with other staff members
    • Good communication skills
    • Basic knowledge of fitness equipment and exercise
    • Customer service orientated
    • Proficient in the use of computers and related software for word processing, spread sheets, and database management; Specific software experience in Windows and Microsoft Office
    PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
    The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; or recurring lifting of moderately heavy items. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities, such as above average agility and dexterity.
    WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
    • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment, and workout/exercise equipment
    • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
    • Work is performed in a gymnasium/fitness type of environment
    • May be scheduled to work morning, afternoon, evening shifts on weekdays or weekends
    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • High School Diploma or GED
    • AED/ CPR/First-aid certified, or willing to become certified within first 30 days after being hired

    Salary
    Hourly Pay Rate is $15.60
