Position Description
DEFINITION:
To teach face to face QuickBooks courses at the Surf City Center. These courses may be held at a variety of times depending on student interest.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
Receive general supervision from the Director of the Surf City Center.
Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS:
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential Functions:
  • Conduct engaging and informative QuickBooks training sessions for individuals and small groups remotely.
  • Deliver curriculum that covers the fundamentals of QuickBooks, including setup, navigation, data entry, reporting, and more.
  • Provide hands-on guidance and support to participants, answering questions and troubleshooting issues as needed.
  • Tailor instruction to meet the diverse needs and skill levels of participants, ensuring an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Stay current with updates and changes to QuickBooks software to ensure training materials are up-to-date.
  • Maintain class records in compliance with local and state procedures and requirements.
  • Meet all deadlines internally and externally.

Other Important Functions:
  1. Knowledge of EWD processes and procedures and general College policies and procedures.

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks with a solid understanding of its features and functionalities.
  • Proven experience as a trainer or instructor, preferably in a QuickBooks or accounting-related capacity.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex concepts in a clear and engaging manner.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with a focus on delivering high-quality instruction in a timely manner.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., QuickBooks Certification) are a plus but not required.

Knowledge of:
  1. Principles and procedures of record keeping and basic accounting.
  2. Principles and practices of financial recordkeeping and reporting
  3. English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
  4. Modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment.
  5. Advanced word processing methods, techniques and programs.
  6. Advanced spreadsheet and database knowledge.
  7. Principles of mathematics.

  4. Maintain a variety of financial records and files.
  5. Perform accounting activities including the maintenance of appropriate files and compiling information for reports.

Qualifications
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Minimum Experience:
  • Associates degree in business, accounting or bookkeeping or related field
  • Teaching experience
  • Windows and Microsoft Office experience
  • Google Suite experience

Preferred Education/Training, Experience, Skills:
  • QuickBooks certification
  • Experience using online learning platforms like Canvas

  • This position will work 6-10 hours per week when the course is offered. Position is dependent on enrollment.
