Environmental Services (EVS) Floor Care Technician

Full-Time, On-Site (includes multiple worksites)

Kitsap Mental Health Services (KMHS) is seeking an Environmental Services (EVS) Technician to support a clean, safe, and wellmaintained environment across our campuses. In this role, you will perform routine and specialized cleaning to ensure healthcare and commercial spaces meet high standards of cleanliness, safety, and infection prevention. You will work independently and as part of a team while adapting to changing priorities and locations as operational needs require. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work independently and in a team-cleaning environment while performing all work in an efficient, timely and organized manner with minimum supervision.
  • Clean and disinfect all restrooms, to include all vertical and horizontal surfaces, furnishings, fixtures, and hardware. Replenishing soap and paper dispensers.
  • Empty all interior and exterior trash receptacles and dispose of refuse appropriately. Maintain an adequate quantity of paper products in designated locations for staff utilization.
  • Clean all lobbies, lounges, hallways, kitchens and dining areas, to include all vertical and horizontal surfaces, furnishings, fixtures, hardware and glass at doorways and reception desks. Replenishing amenities as required.
  • Clean all bedrooms, offices, stairwells, group and work rooms, to include all vertical and horizontal surfaces, furnishings, fixtures and hardware.
  • Collect, transport, and properly dispose of waste from interior and exterior receptacles. Operate waste equipment such as compactors according to safety procedures
  • Monitor and clean carpeted areas utilizing the methods outlined by manufacture and specialty equipment. Maintain vinyl composite flooring by striping, sealing, finishing and burnishing periodically or on an as needed basis.
  • Organize and stock custodial closets and carts. Maintain adequate inventory of paper and chemical supplies that could be utilized by other team members and staff.
  • Follow infection prevention protocols and utilize proper personal protection equipment (PPE). Maintain all applicable safety data sheets and follow all chemical labeling, mixing and use instructions and regulations.
  • Perform routine cleaning and periodic maintenance to keep custodial equipment in good operating condition and to maintain building aesthetics.
  • Report all damage to equipment or facility, suspicious activity, security risks, or safety hazards promptly to supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

EXPERIENCE: One year of recent (within the last 5 years) experience in housekeeping, janitorial or custodial work.

LICENSES/CREDENTIALS:

  • This position requires driving company and personal vehicles on behalf of the agency. Incumbent must meet all agency driving requirements, including being at least 21 years old, having been licensed for a minimum of three years, successfully completing a motor vehicle history check, possessing and maintaining a current, valid driver's license in the state of Washington, and having reliable, insured transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:

EXPERIENCE: Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience)

Performance Requirements:

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of materials and methods used to clean and disinfect public facilities.
  • General knowledge in cleaning equipment, sufficient to perform routine maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of safety rules and regulations.

SKILLS:

  • Must be able to work independently and display good organizational skills.
  • Sufficient human relations skills to work as a cooperative member of a team and to serve internal customers.

ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • Understand safety data sheets and safe chemical handling practices.
    • Work as a member of a crew and maintain harmonious work relationships.
    • Complete routine daily tasks.
    • Read, understand and interpret work schedules and diagrams. Requires the ability to understand written and oral instructions.
    • Work variable schedules to facilitate efficient project completion and special events.
    • Observe safe work practices and handle hazardous materials according to accepted procedures.

Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc. Use of commercial laundry machine, dryer, and carpet cleaning machines. Maintenance equipment including snow shovel.

Work Environment: Office, outdoors.

Mental/Physical Requirements:

  • The ability to function indoors in an office environment and outdoors engaged in physically active work.
  • Ambulatory ability to move to different work locations and bend, stoop, climb, and perform inspections.
  • The ability to wear various protective equipment, work in areas with extreme temperature variation, and work in cramped or uneven spaces.
  • Ability to safely operate cleaning machinery and handle specialized tools with precision.
  • Visual acuity to observe worksites, read written materials.
  • Auditory ability to carry on conversations in person and over the phone, including projecting voice in noisy work settings.
  • May require the ability to lift from the floor, waist, or overhead objects up to 50 pounds occasionally.
