JOB SUMMARY

The Environmental Services Assistant is responsible for maintaining the facility in a clean, sanitary and safe condition; must be able to perform the assigned duties and functions in accordance with the standard policy and procedures of the Environmental Services Department and in accordance with the hospital objectives. Each EVS Assistant must maintain good public relations while maintaining patient/customer confidentiality and satisfaction and exhibit Community Cares standards.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education / License / Certification:

  • High school graduate or GED preferred

Experience / Skills:

  • Prior experience in healthcare or commercial housekeeping preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and move equipment and supplies as required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in a healthcare environment.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Clean and disinfect patient rooms, restrooms, offices, public areas, and other hospital spaces according to established standards.
  • Handle and transport regular waste, biohazard waste, soiled linen, and clean linen safely and appropriately.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors and carpets throughout the facility.
  • Restock departmental and patient care supplies, including paper products, soap, sanitizer, gloves, and related items.
  • Move furniture, equipment, beds, and mattresses as needed.
  • Clean and disinfect equipment in accordance with hospital policies.
  • Maintain accurate cleaning and project records.
  • Report maintenance, safety, and infection control concerns promptly.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, staff, and leadership.
  • Follow all hospital policies, safety procedures, and infection prevention standards.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, reliability, and excellent customer service.
  • Attend required meetings, trainings, and educational programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
