What does an events producer do?

An Events Producer is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing events such as conferences, festivals, corporate gatherings, and live shows. They manage all aspects of the event, including budgeting, logistics, vendor coordination, scheduling, and on-site supervision. Events Producers work closely with clients and teams to ensure that each event meets its objectives and runs smoothly. Their role often involves creative input, problem-solving, and ensuring compliance with safety and legal requirements.

What are some common challenges events producers face when managing multiple events simultaneously?

Events Producers often juggle several projects at once, which requires strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. A key challenge is balancing competing deadlines while ensuring each event meets client expectations and maintains high quality. Job description

Lectures on Tap is expanding and we need your help to pull it off.

We're seeking talented City Managers, Event Producers, Curators, and Event Hosts in select cities across the U.S. Full-time and part-time roles, competitive pay, and hours that don't eat your life.

We're looking for enthusiastic, self-sufficient, and reliable problem-solvers who can think on their feet and genuinely get a kick out of learning something new with a room full of strangers.

Lectures on Tap team

Event Producer (~10 hours/week)

Atlanta | Austin | Boston | Chicago | Dallas | DC | Houston | Los Angeles | New York City | Philly | San Diego | San Francisco | Seattle | Other

We're looking for Event Producers to curate and execute Lectures on Tap events from start to finish in your city.

You’ll handle both the behind-the-scenes speaker curation and the public-facing hosting — coordinating 2-5 lecture nights per month by building venue partnerships, qualifying speakers, welcoming attendees, and managing AV during events.

This role is a good fit for someone who’s comfortable working with both professors and bar owners, can confidently host a room of attendees, and is passionate about bringing big ideas into casual settings.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Venue Partnerships: Building and maintaining recurring relationships with bars and venues that meet Lectures on Tap standards.
  • Speaker Curation: Interviewing and qualifying expert speakers who can inspire curiosity and conversation with the public.
  • Lecture Night Ops: Manage all on-site logistics during each lecture night, including ticket check-in, audience seating, and speaker support.
  • AV & Technical Coordination: Ensure all technical setups, including projectors, microphones, and presentation materials, are functioning properly while thinking on your feet to solve issues that may arise during events.
  • Hosting: Welcoming attendees, introducing the speaker of the night, and engaging with the audience to set the tone for the event.

Event Producers may host up to 5 lectures per month and this position pays $425 per lecture night. This role is perfect for someone who loves learning, thrives in social environments, and can balance curation, organization, and event-night logistics. We're looking for organized community-builders who are excited to help bring intellectual nightlife to their city.
