TC Rentals Driver and Field Operations Specialist
Company Overview
TC Rentals is an established event equipment rental and logistics company specializing in traffic control, crowd control, hostile vehicle mitigation, hydration systems, and event infrastructure for large-scale and small-scale events. With over 20 years of operating history, TC Rentals has successfully supported some of the largest and most complex events in Northern California including Bay to Breakers, Bottle Rock, SF Mararthon, Outside Lands, Oakland First Fridays, Portola Music Fest, Golden State Warriors Championship Parades, SF Giants Champioship Parades, SF Chinese New Years Parade, and many more premier events in the greater Bay Area.
Position Overview
Driver and Field Operations Specialist is a critical, dual-role position responsible for the safe, reliable, and punctual transportation of rental equipment, with an emphasis on traffic control and event-related items. This role also requires technical and logistical expertise, involving the hands-on loading, unloading, setup, and maintenance of equipment. The successful candidate will act as a primary company representative on-site, ensuring exceptional customer service and independent problem-solving across a dynamic and varied work environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Safe and Reliable Transportation: Operate company trucks and trailers for the safe and efficient transport of rental equipment to and from event locations and job sites.
  • Equipment Management: Expertly load, secure, and offload a variety of equipment, with a specific focus on heavy, high-volume items such as barricades and traffic control devices.
  • Logistics and Setup: Maintain strict adherence to established timelines to ensure punctual arrival, efficient setup, and timely strike/removal of equipment at events.
  • Vehicle Inspection: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip basic vehicle inspections to ensure all vehicles and equipment are in safe, working condition and comply with transportation regulations.
  • Inventory Control: Perform accurate inventory tracking and reconciliation during loading and unloading to ensure precise counts and accountability for all equipment.
  • Technical and Operational Support: Utilize initiative and troubleshooting skills to independently address and resolve logistical or technical challenges encountered on the job site.
  • Customer Service: Represent TC Rentals professionally by providing excellent customer service and maintaining clear, effective communication with clients and event organizers.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Licensing and Experience
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record is mandatory.
  • Prior experience in a professional driving role, ideally involving commercial equipment transportation.
  • Demonstrated truck and trailer experience is highly preferred.
  • Supervisory experience in a logistical or operational context is a plus.
Physical and Technical Capability
  • Must possess the physical strength and stamina required to repeatedly lift and carry equipment, including barricades, weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Proficiency in basic mathematics for accurate inventory tracking and record-keeping.
  • Ability to use and troubleshoot basic mobile applications for navigation, scheduling, time tracking, and accessing work-related information.
Core Competencies
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills to maintain punctual delivery and setup schedules.
  • Proven ability to multitask and manage competing priorities effectively under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective internal team coordination and positive external customer engagement.
Work Environment
This is a full-time position characterized by a dynamic and unpredictable schedule; uniformity is the exception. The role requires considerable adaptability, as time is divided among three primary domains:
  1. Transportation: Significant time is spent navigating and traveling for logistical and operational purposes.
  2. Hands-on Labor: A substantial portion of the workday is dedicated to physical, tangible work, executed both at various off-site job sites and within the company warehouse for preparation, maintenance, and inventory.
  3. Relational Interaction: Frequent and effective engagement with both internal employees and external customers is required to coordinate efforts, manage expectations, and maintain professional relationships.
Benefits:
- Competitive hourly wage.
- 401k matching retirement plan.
