Event Security Officer

Position Title: Event Security Officer

Reports To: Security Department Manager

Classification: Part-time, Non-Exempt

Compensation: $20.00 an hour

Incentives: Current Security guards will receive $30 towards renewal reimbursement after completion of 30 events with no disciplinary actions and or attendants' issues.

Position Summary: Responsible for overseeing the safety and security of Toyota-Arena, Stage Red Theater (Fontana), ONT-Field and Ontario Convention Centers (OCC) patrons, employees, and assets.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain continuous 24โ€‘hour security coverage for the interior and exterior of the facility, ensuring a safe environment during daily operations and highโ€‘capacity events.
  • Conduct regular patrols throughout the building, proactively identifying safety concerns and supporting event readiness.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to all safety and security calls, including those arising during peak event activity.
  • Provide a strong guestโ€‘services presence by greeting patrons, assisting with directions, answering questions, and ensuring a welcoming environment.
  • Perform bag checks, operate wands, and monitor metal detectors for all guests entering the venue, maintaining both safety and positive guest interaction.
  • Support event operations through effective crowd management, including monitoring ingress/egress, guiding guest flow, preventing congestion, and assisting with line control.
  • Manage access points for staff, vendors, performers, and VIPs while maintaining a courteous and serviceโ€‘oriented approach.
  • Assist with emergency procedures, evacuations, and incident response while maintaining calm, clear communication with guests and team members.
  • Complete all assigned tasks within established guidelines and deadlines set by the Security Manager.
  • Adhere to departmental standards for conduct, attendance, dress code, and ethical expectations.
  • Uphold the Security Department's prime directives and maintain a professional appearance at all times.
  • Investigate incidents and prepare accurate, detailed incident reports for both daily operations and eventโ€‘related situations.

Experience/Training: License/Certificate: California Issued Guard Card

Knowledge/Abilities/Skills: Minimum education of high school diploma or its equivalency 0 - 2+ years in a sports and entertainment venue preferred Must be able to work in a fast paced environment Understand the rule of law and relevant penal codes Ability to represent the Security Dept. in an exemplary manner Ability to maintain good business relations with all the employees & managers in all depts. Ability to effectively perform in crises and work under pressure without loss of composure Ability to maintain patron, employee and company confidentiality Ability to acquire a California Guard Card at your own expense. This is required before an Officer can work and be scheduled.

Physical and Environmental Requirements: Ability to stand on hard surfaces and walk for long periods of time Ability to climb up and down stairs throughout the shift Ability to work in changing temperatures, inside the arena and outdoors Available 80% of events (Arena which may include HOLIDAYS) a month which can include 4 days a week, including Friday and ALL day Saturdays and Sundays. Report to work no later than 5:00PM during the week working until the end of each shift, possibly 11:00PM-12:00AM Applicants must be available to work evenings and weekends, as well as some Holidays. This is an event related position. Schedules will vary based on the needs of the venue. Must be flexible.
