Job Description
Truckee Meadows Community College, located in Reno, NV, is recruiting for a Custodial Worker 1 in the Facilities Department. This position will perform custodial duties using chemicals and equipment, dust, glass cleaning, stainless steel cleaning of the elevator, water fountains, vacuuming, and cleaning of dry erase and chalkboards. This position will mop daily, cleaning spills, floor refinishing, and buffing. This position will make sure that all trash is dumped daily, replace soiled bags in all common areas, and collect and separate recycled materials. This position will lock and alarm all doors as directed by the Supervisor. This position will remove snow and graffiti, special event set-ups, assist students, and any other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications
  • This position requires Graduation from high school or equivalent education and six months of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR
  • Six (6) months of general work experience and six (6) months of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR
  • Six (6) months of experience as a Custodial Worker Trainee in Nevada State service; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above

Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
Schedule
Day Shift - The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. This is subject to change based on organizational needs.
Swing Shift - The typical work schedule is Monday - Thursday 4:00 pm - 1:00 am Friday 3:00 pm - 12:00 am; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
This position is designated as Essential Personnel. In the event of a campus emergency, special event, closure to maintain campus safety or building operations, this position may be required to work outside of regularly scheduled hours.
Compensation Grade
Grade 21(Step 01, $18.40/hr)
In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate's qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
