Job description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is primarily responsible for providing janitorial services to ensure the SVRC Marketplace building cleanliness and orderliness is maintained. This position also involves setting up and breaking down event spaces, providing janitorial support during events, and returning the area(s) to a high standard of cleanliness after events.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Janitorial Services:

  • Provides regular janitorial cleaning support to the Marketplace, as assigned. Activities include but are not limited to:
    • Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and floor care (manual and machine-based)
    • Cleaning restrooms, kitchens, common areas, and office spaces
    • Trash collection and disposal (interior and exterior)
    • Replenishing supplies such as soap, paper products, and sanitizer
    • Cleaning windows, walls, fixtures, and high-touch surfaces
  • Reports facility maintenance needs to the Marketplace Director promptly.

Event Support:

  • Works with the Marketplace Director to understand event requirements and schedules.
  • Sets up event spaces according to specifications, including arranging furniture, equipment, and decor.
  • Ensures all audio-visual and technical equipment is functioning correctly and troubleshoots any issues.
  • Assists with the decor and layout adjustments as needed during events.
  • Dismantles and stores event materials safely and efficiently post-event.
  • Conducts post-event checks to ensure all areas are returned to their original condition.
  • Provides on-site support during events, including monitoring and addressing any immediate needs or issues.
  • Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of event areas, including trash removal, restroom maintenance, supply replenishing, and spill clean-ups using universal precautions.
  • Be the point of contact for any janitorial needs or emergencies during events.
  • Ensures all health and safety regulations are adhered to during events.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Follows all organizational policies and procedures related to safety and cleanliness.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding building maintenance and event management.
  • Participates in safety training and always adheres to safety protocols.

MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A high school degree or at least one year of janitorial experience.
  • Knowledge of proper use of cleaning equipment and supplies.
  • Evidence of organizational abilities, as well as basic communication skills.
  • Experience working with individuals who have disabilities is preferred.
  • Successful completion of a criminal history background check is required under the terms of agency employment.
