f you have a love of animals, helping customers find the right solutions, and are enthusiastic/energetic, Pet Wants Dublin has a unique flexible and part-time opportunity for you!

We are hiring a part-time Sales Associate to help us operate our booth at pop up events & markets (on site at various locations in the Columbus area) as well as some shifts at our retail store in Historic Dublin. The work site will vary within Dublin & Columbus based on the event location.

While available work hours will vary week to week depending on scheduling needs, it is estimated the position will offer approximately 5-15 hours of work per week, on weekends primarily (mostly Saturday mornings), but potentially some hours during the week depending on candidate's availability. Hours can be scheduled weeks in advance for maximum planning & flexibility. This is a great opportunity for someone with a passion for animals looking to supplement their income on the weekend to work one or two short to medium length shifts or who has flexibility during the week!

As a Sales Associate with Pet Wants, you will become fluent in pet nutrition to help customers find the appropriate food, treats, chews and other products for their cats & dogs.

The Sales Associate will also be responsible for:

  • Actively engaging and selling our products to customers, collecting payments, restocking/merchandising, keeping the booth stocked & tidy, and other responsibilities typical for a retail sales associate. Being able to address customer questions, demonstrating product knowledge, and helping customers find solutions to problems is crucial.
  • Transporting inventory and the merchandising display (tables, tent, bins, etc) to and from the market booth for Pop Up events, when needed.
  • When doing Pop Up Markets, setting up a professional merchandising display at events based on Pet Wants guidance/brand guidelines. All display materials will be provided as well as a uniform (branded shirt).
  • Greeting our human customers and their furry friends who pass by or stop by the booth or store, while practicing general animal safety with pets, such as obtaining consent from owners before petting and giving treats, etc.
  • Communicating with the customer to understand their pet's unique characteristics, illnesses, and other needs to ensure the right products are recommended.
  • Operating a Point of Sales (POS) device
  • Paid training will be provided which includes reviewing training manuals/presentations and job shadowing. You learn everything you need to know to effectively engage with customers, set up a booth at a Pop Up event, and understand what nutrition and wellness products should be recommended and help educate our customers!
  • If traveling to a Pop Up event, driving safely and courteously.

Job Requirements:

-A passion for animals is a must!

-Retail experience or experience in the pet industry strongly preferred, but not required

-At least 18 years of age with high school diploma or general education degree (GED)

-Personable, positive, high energy demeanor and active communicator. Enjoys engaging with customers and educating them

-Self-starter, reliable, and thrives in an entrepreneurial environment

-Ability to operate independently with minimal oversight and very punctual.

-Quick learner, ability to recall training to have informed conversations with customers

-Can set up a professional, eye catching merchandise display using equipment provided & Pet Wants brand guidance

-Physical requirements include being able to, twist, squat, bend over, reach, stand for long periods at a time, and lift/carry objects (up to 40lbs) over short distances, as you will have to set up tables, tent, and move merchandise/storage bins.

-Will review training materials, plus shadow owner or another Sales Associate at several events or at the store.

-Can legally work in the United States and state of Ohio, must pass background check (and motor vehicle record report, if driving to events on behalf of the company)

Starting wage is $15/hour, and shifts will typically be 4-6 hours long. If a strong performer, there is opportunity for near-term wage increases.
