Overview:

Physical Security & Crisis Management department is looking for a Travel Risk &Event SecuritySpecialist. Our department manages a best-in-class corporate physical risk management and asset protection program, safeguarding Sun Life'speopleand operations worldwide. Our dynamic group of professionals delivers effective oversight, assessment, consulting, and support services in enterprise physical risk management. This includes global incident monitoring and crisis response, physical security systems and technology, travel risk, enhanced personnel protection, as well as occupational health & safety. The role reports to the Manager, Enhanced Personnel Protection.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will work with a team responsible for executing our travel risk management, executive protection, and event security requirements in support of personnel and asset protection through risk assessments, reporting, consulting, onsite presence, awareness, and education. This position willmaintainstrong partnerships with both internal and external business partners, as well as provide active support to risk programs for our global operations. In collaboration with colleagues and internal partners, this position will be a driving force for program effectiveness, enhancements, and high-quality delivery of services.

What will you do:

  • Oversee event security and compiling threatandrisk intelligence on geopolitical concerns, security risks such as crime, terrorism,andcivil unrest to ensure traveler safety.
  • Provideoperationalon-site support for high profile events and meetings, includingpersonnel protection, organizing movements to and from, and supervising security contractors. Some North American andinternational travelisrequired.
  • Prepare detailed event security risk assessments and security operational plans to support offsite events globally.
  • Provide relevant andtimelysituational awareness,travel, and otherbriefings in collaboration with our third-party security, medical, and travel risk vendors.
  • Analyze metrics,identifytrends, and create processes and strategies to address risks or vulnerabilities associated with the trends.
  • Collaborate withinternal partners such as the Incident Reporting Centreto coordinate, review, approve and executepersonnel protectionprogram elements.
  • Participateinand contribute to industry related threat intelligence roundtables, groups or committeespertaining toexecutive protection, travel riskmanagementand event security.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with business leaders to ensure the quality of services provided meetsourobjectives.
  • This position mayinterface directly withexternal government, security, lawenforcementand emergency services officials.

Decision-Making Authority

  • Works in tandem with the Manager, Enhanced Personnel Protection to implement program priorities.
  • Works withinternal teams (e.g.,the Incident Reporting Centre)to implement program priorities.

What you need to succeed:

  • Degree or diploma in security, investigation, or risk management; or comparable professional education/training in a field relevant to security or investigation management.
  • Minimum of3years of experience with travel risk management and executive protection.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience within a corporate, government security or risk department for a similar organization of comparable size and complexity.
  • Professional designation preferred in security or investigations management, such as Associate Protection Professional, Certified Protection Professional, or Professional Certified Investigator.
  • Knowledge or experience in dealing with third party vendorsrelated totravel and medical risk, political, security and integrity risk is considered an asset.

Preferred skills:

  • Exceptional customer service and negotiation skills along witha high levelof integrity.
  • Ability to effectively navigatea highly complexorganization.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, as the successful candidatewill be expected to communicate across all levels of the organizationwith precision and clarity.
  • Highly developed organizational skills and the ability to scope and prioritize a wide range of tasks.
  • Strongcritical thinking, problemsolvingand decision-making skills.
  • Experience working with both internal teams and contracted operations.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to issues of ethics, diversity, equity, and harassment in the workplace.

This role requires Reliability Security Clearance.
